If you have water damage, then you need water damage services, right? But what exactly does that mean?
Obviously, a water damage restoration company will remove the water from your home, but what about all of your belongings? What about mold? Do water damage services cover these areas too?
Let’s find out!

What Do Water Damage Services Include?
Water damage restoration for a house or business actually includes a few different services. Here’s a quick breakdown of the most common water damage services!
Water Extraction and Water Mitigation
Water extraction refers to the actual removal of water from your home. If a pipe bursts, for example, the standing water will be removed with pumps while special equipment will be used to pull (i.e. extract) water that might be saturating your floors, walls, and so on.
Water mitigation, on the other hand, generally refers to the steps intended to prevent more damage. So: water damage mitigation might include sanitization efforts, packing out your belongings (temporarily), and more.

Water Damage Repair
Water damage repair is paired with water extraction and mitigation, except its focus is to repair or replace whatever has been damaged by water.
Moisture Inspection
Moisture inspection requires special equipment to see hidden water damage, such as water that has seeped through floorboards. If that water is allowed to persist, it can lead to mold (how fast does mold grow, by the way?) and structural damage.
Sewage Backup Cleanup and Repair
Sewage backup cleanup and repair work similarly to normal water damage services, except this type of water damage requires a bit more oomph in terms of sanitization and odor removal.
Mold Inspection and Mold Remediation
A mold inspection team will take samples of mold from your property to test them in a lab. This allows the team to learn what type of mold it is and how to best handle it. Once that’s done, a mold remediation team removes the mold and takes steps to limit its return.
